Weekly Roundup

It’s feeling officially spring-y! We took a trip to the Carlsbad Flower Fields with a friend who snapped the loveliest family photos for us. Margot’s current love is flowers - on daily neighborhood walks, her chubby little hand reaches out of the stroller with giddy anticipation of touching the nearby flora! So, she was tickled to be surrounded by so many petals in the fields.

Speaking of flowers and babies, I have a PSA for you: Our pediatrician told us, “watch out for oleander plants, they’re lethal to babies.” What!? This was news to me so I did some googling and found that just a single petal can kill a baby or a pet. Do some research on what they look like and keep an eye out - I’ve already found 6 plants along the sidewalk near my house. Did everyone else know that they were this toxic and this prevalent in our communities??

I tend to go for neutrals or solids in my wardrobe, but I’m crushing on this handmade dress.

Did you weigh in on the options I’m considering for the kitchen wall? I did a fair amount of research on where I should have my digital photo printed and framed, and I ultimately chose Artifact Uprising.

I made a tiny change to the dining room and it feels wildly different. I highly recommend it.

Moving beyond Carbon Tunnel Vision.

About 10 years ago, Ross announced a “no wicker policy” in our home - he’s just not a fan. Do you think he’ll make an exception for this?

I’m prepping to update my website and curious if there are any features you’d like to see. I’m all ears.

We’ve been ordering some of our groceries through Misfit Market for the past couple of months. They rescue responsibly-grown produce to keep it from going to waste. We’ve been pleased with everything, so I’m happy to recommend it! Use this code for $10 off: COOKWME-ES3JYUQLUZP

We’ve been using IKEA towels as our dishtowels for a decade, but I’m ready for something new. I feel like the one that I try to dry my hands with is always wet. I just ordered these, but I’m curious if anyone else has a great suggestion for something that dries quickly, is made of a natural material, and isn’t too rigid in its shape.

The dos and don’ts of sharing creators’ content. I’ve also learned a lot from Rebecca, a professional photographer that shares great insight into copyrights.

Remember that bathroom that we had plumbed and prepped two years ago? You know, the one that would turn our 1-bathroom home into a 2-bathroom house? The one that I carved out space for and started designing years and years ago? Yeah, it’s still not done. There’s a subfloor and drywall, but no tile or fixtures or anything! I’m trying my hardest to finalize the finishes ASAP (before my construction permit expires!) so I’ve been referring back to my Pinterest boards of bathroom inspiration and mosaic tile patterns.
