A Handy List and Map of Antique Shops, Thrift Stores, and Markets in Los Angeles
/I ventured out of town for a quick trip to Los Angeles and couldn’t not go antiquing. I asked folks on Instagram where you all like to hunt for old furnishings in LA and I’ve compiled your recommendations below! Here’s a handy map and a list of all the best spots to go thrift shopping, antique hunting, and weekend marketing while in LA.
Note that I asked for recommendations of places with good antique furniture (more-so than tchotchkes) and items that are prewar (as in before 1940s). So I didn’t include the many great resources for mid-century or 80’s era furnishings - simply because that’s not what I’m hunting for (post-1950s items are so much easier to find in LA than pre-1950s)
I find maps so much more helpful than lists and since navigating LA is a doozy, here’s a handy map for you.
You can click on any of those pins to get more info and find the websites of each store, or click on that icon that looks like a belt buckle in the upper left to see the list of shops. Since brick and mortar shops tend to change their hours and since antique shops change their inventory all the time, I’d rather direct you to their sites rather than mislead you with outdated info.
Oftentimes single-day antique markets are the place to go for more budget-friendly hunts and you can get everything in one spot. I included those in the map (highlighted in green) but just make sure you’re going on the scheduled date or you’ll end up at an empty parking lot.
If you’re looking for more antique shops take a look at the shoppers guides for many of our southern California regions here (find them in the column on the right-hand side).
Happy hunting!
Did I forget to include your favorite shop? Let me know in the comments and I’ll pop it on the map.
